So today I ended up on this website called Tribal Nations Maps. You know how it goes where one thing leads to another, leads to another, etc, etc…
I decided to look into it more because I want to put it on my Link Library for my Homeschool Membership Community.
So I was reading their FAQs and read this:
How were these maps created?
-I have traveled in person to roughly 300 Native communities in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, visiting elders, museums, cultural departments and historic sites in my quest to show a Native perspective. I contacted cultural departments by phone and in writing as well, and use other references such as books, historic charts and other tribal sources for documentation purposes.
I immediately decided this is the COOLEST PROJECT EVER!! To travel around and collect information like that?? I LOVE THIS IDEA!!
Obviously, I need to pick a project relevant to me…but I absolutely LOVE the idea of gathering info and involving TRAVEL in it!! Meeting all kinds of cool new people and making some awesome new resources? COUNT ME IN!!
Now, WHAT could I do my own research on…hmmmm.
It’s going to be some time before I could even afford to leave my own town (we are still currently without an income in our family…over a year now…so that’s my primary focus these days)…so I have some time to think on this… But I LOVE this idea!!
