Privacy Policy

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for HomeschoolRealm.com, Noodle Homeschool (HomeschoolRealm.com/moodle) and TinasLearningAdventures.com, which are all housed on this site. This privacy notice applies solely to information collected by this website.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

I, Tina Smith, am the sole owner of the information collected on this site.

For most Homeschool Realm digital learning products, I collect your name, email address and payment info (collected through a third-party plugin and Paypal). I also collect name and email address for my Homeschool Realm email list, but this is a double opt-in and you are never added to this list without your express permission.

For Noodle Homeschool online courses, I collect the enrolled child’s name and an email for them to log into their own account with (does not need to be their own, can be a parent’s email). Occasionally, I may also collect a child’s age, to divide certain courses into groups by age range.

For Tina’s Learning Adventures local field trips and classes, I collect parent’s names, email, and phone number, as well as children’s names and ages, to ensure age appropriateness for activities, and to enable me to make name tags for all participants. I also take payment through the same third-party payment plugin and Paypal, so that info is also collected.

I will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

I will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted me.

I will only share your information with a third party outside of my business as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to collect payment and send you your product.

If you subscribe to one of my email lists, I will contact you via email (until you ask me not to) to tell you about updates/news, specials, events, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.

In addition to the info mentioned above, the following information may be collected if you interact with my website in the following ways:

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

COMMENTS – When you leave a comment on my site the data shown in the comments form is collected, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

COOKIES – If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.

SEARCH LOGS – All searches performed using the internal site search are logged in the database, including the following information: the search query, the number of hits found, user ID for users who are logged in, date and time and the IP address. The IP address is stored for security and auditing purposes.

EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES – Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, Amazon listings, etc). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

COOKIES –  Comment cookies last for a year. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

SEARCH LOGS – The search logs are stored indefinitely.

COMMENTS – If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely (unless I have a reason to delete them, such as inappropriate comments or ones that are no longer relevant.) This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
