Soooo….I’ve really gotten into listening to podcasts in recent years…it’s just so hard to find time to read so I find it extremely convenient and enjoyable to plug into my iPhone to listen to a podcast while I wash dishes, go grocery shopping, mow the lawn, do laundry, whatever! Multitasking is super useful and it has the added bonus of making a dull or hated job actually tolerable!
I’ve been thinking for awhile that it seems like it would be fun to do a podcast…there’s so many different ways that they are done! But I always figured I don’t have the voice for it and who would listen to me?
Enter Manic Mommies.
I don’t even remember how I found the show. Probably an iTunes search for mommy podcasts or something. Anyway, now here was a show that had a format that was so fun to listen to…like eavesdropping on 2 moms just having a chat, talking about their lives and the ups and downs of being a mom…silly stories about their kids and frustration with their husbands….I really dig this show!
But…while I really enjoy listening to the manic lives of Kristen and Erin…I couldn’t entirely relate to all they talked about. You see, they are working (out of the home) moms whose kids go to public school. Of course there’s nothing wrong with that, it just isn’t my life and I kept finding myself thinking “If only there were a show similar to this, but with homeschooling moms!”
And since the basic format of their show is so simple (just 2 moms talking!) it gave me the idea that this could actually be a very doable thing…. (and I’ve since discovered many other podcasts with a similar format and draw ideas from all of these.)
So, after some time of thinking this, and searching and searching for a similar homeschool podcast….I realized there just didn’t exist a show like that and why couldn’t I do one? I have a friend I knew would be perfect to do this with me….so I asked her. She said yes!!! And…
Savvy Homeschool Moms was born!
We’ve now recorded 2 episodes, are having an absolute BLAST, and are nearly ready to go live!
Of course, we realize we are NOT the Manic Mommies, and as such we will never be on the same level as that show (which has been produced for like 6 years already, I think…and geez, those ladies are just hilarious! Don’t think we’ll ever be comparable, and don’t really want to be…they are who they are, we are who we are.) so we are doing our own thing, and taking ideas that we find from all the podcasts we listen to, mixing it all up and giving them our own spin.
So…head on over to our website (linked above), like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and you will hear as soon as we are live on iTunes! We’re hoping it will be soon…we’re itching to grow our audience!
This is turning out to be soooooo fun! I hope you will join us!
